OUR NEW SERIAL.
"A FEATHER IN THE WIND." £ « AN ENTHRALLING STORY. Frank Shaw is known as a writer of the romance of adventure, and his stories, always full of moving incident, never * lack colour and „ vigour. We commence in * tomorrow's issue a new serial story by this writer, "A Feather in the Wind," and we are sure that its atmosphere of swiftly-moving adventure in strange lands will be appreciated by our readers. The story has for its heroine Belle Angel, and she comes into the story at its commencement in a curious way. Captain Branksome is in command of his ship in the harbour of San Martino, when there is an eruption of the volcanic mountain looming over the town. Branksome realises that there is going to be trouble before the outbreak occurs, and takes his ship to sea. When the outburst has subsided he makes his way back to see if he can help. Nothing left of San Martino but desolation, but in searching the ruins a baby girl is found by the - side of her dead mother by one of the sailors, and is forthwith;, adopted by him; This is how Belle Angel begins life, but the story actually begins with Belle as • a young woman, rebellious against her lot in a dingy quarter of a Sea-v port town, and therefrom her adventures begin, and end only with the discovery of her real identity, . and on the right note of happiness. The story is told with sustained interest, and is certain to grip the reader who .commences to- follow the life^ of Belle, Angel.
