HOCKEY.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Hockey Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening to consider the matter of voting money to the fund for the retention of Lancaster Park as a playing ground. There iwere present: Mr W. Simpson, vicepresident (in the chair). Messrs W. TI. Down, S. Holland, W. R. Patrick, 0. Bellamy, W. Leightoii, C. Albiston, H. •Stillwe'll, K. Reid, H. Male, E. N. Smith, P., Agar (secretary), H. Luxton, and E. Ifulbert (trustees). The recommendation from the last meeting, which was brought before tlie special meeting, was to the effect that a- sum of £SO should be granted from the ground fund, and. that subscription lists "should be opened. , The chairman explained the financial position of the park, and emphasised the great advertisement and beneiit the use of the park would be to hockey. Mr Holland said that the game had made great strides in popularity. Tie moved that the executive vote ifioO out of the Ground Fund Account to the Lancaster Park Fund. Mr Down seconded the motion, subject to the consent of the trustees. Mr llulbert said that as far as he remembered the rules the executivecould take over the money. Personally lie was strongly in favour of the grant. Later Mr Luxton attended and raised ■ the r|uestion whether the contribution of JwO from the ground fund was legal. The chairman ruled that the executive was in order in granting the sum, as in Voting it to the park it was being devoted to grounds. After further discussion the motion was carried, several delegates present promising donat ions. A committee comprising practically all the delegates was set up to carry out. the subscription scheme.
