MAIN POSITION CAPTURED. *• ' SPLENDID GALLANTRY OF BRITISH TROOPS. (Received July 27-, 9.85 a.m.) LONDON, July 26. . Mr Austen Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, said that the British attacked and captured the main position on the Euphrates on July 24. They captured 11 guns, two machine guns, and several hundred prisoners, and counted 500 Turkish dead. Our casualties in .20 days' fighting were from 300 to 400. The troops exhibited the greatest gallantry and endurance under the-most difficult conditions, including intense heat, and fighting in a network of marshes and canals.
