BACHELORS' BALL.
AT SOUTH MALVERN. The bachelors of South Malvern held their annual ball in the Coalgate Hall recently, and carried it through with much credit to themselves. Mr H. C. Stuart made a A*ery efficient secretary. Music was supplied by Mrs Wilson (piano), and Messrs Afieek an<l Leal (cornets), and supper was served in a large marquee adjoining the building. There were about 250 people present. Amongst the ladies present J. Copeland (Christchureh), in white satin; Mrs Mclntyre, jorange satin, veiled in black embossed net; Mrs Bruce (Greeudale), white- satin and silver; Mrs Powderly (Sydney), creme silk, with white, fur trimmings; Miss Mellugh (Darnekl), blue silk and swansdown trimmings; Miss Hartnell (Hororata), white ninon over shell pink silk; Miss E. B. Brown, white embroidered net; Miss Chrissie Smith, pink satin and cream embroidered silk net coatee; Miss Morgan (Methven), apricot satin and black lace overdress; Miss Eily Mclntyre, blue silk <and silver trimmings; Miss Mary. Morgan, white silk, silver-beaded overdress; Miss Gray, white silk; Misses Rollinson (2), pink silk, with silver ornamentations; Miss L. Smith, blue 9atin, reiled in dewdrop net; Miss Duncan, grey velvet and silver trimmings.; Miss Hartnell, grey satin; Miss M. E. Brown, cream delaine, with overdress of lace; Miss Eva Seeming, white China Bilk; Miss Joyce, pink silk, with net overdress; Miss I. Brown, cream silk; Miss C. Marsh, blue brocaded silk; Miss R. Beddie, pale green trimmed with cerise j Miss Lancaster (Christchureh), cream frock with touches of emerald green; Misses Bush (2), grey crepe de soie; Miss Pearson, navy blue; Miss M. Marsh, pink satin and silver; Miss A. Marsh, peacock blue satin; Miss Burkitt, cream satin; Mrs A. T. Beatty, blue silk with pearl trimming; Mrs T. Brown,* jun., white duchesse satin trimmed with shadow lace and pearls; Mrs Hunt, white duchesse satin, with overdress of silk embroidered net; Mrs Cordy, black silk veiled in black lace; Mrs A.
