AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committed or the Canterbury Automobile Association was held last evening in the association's rooms. There were present:-- Mr V. \V. Johnston (chairman), and Messrs H. Piper, P. H. C.limle, K. 'Crazier, A. S. Clarkson, V. Hul>bard, and \V. Broadway. A letter was received from the Town Clerk thanking the association for its contribution of £l5O 17/;'. towards the Patriotic Fund, being the amount realised for the sale of a flag by Mr J*. \V. Johnston, president of the Association, during the Plim-mer-Hall season.
Mr P. 11. Cllmie reported that tic had attended the meeting of sports bodies to consider the proposal of joining the CD.C as a unit. He considered that the matter should be brought under the notice of the members. He thought that the association should do its duty to the CD.C. by forming a motor unit, and render service ;<s motorists and not by drilling. Other members did not support the proposal, Mr ('.rosier considering that the motorists were sulllciently well organised to raise a large number of cars at short notice.
Mr Johnston moved :—"That the committee is in sympathy with the objects and aims of the CD.C, but owing to so much overlapping think that the association's members will be of greater use as automobilists. The already complete organisation of the club is sullicieut to meet ail conditions likely to arise; futher, that the association has already promised, through the New Zealand Automobile Union, to assist in the transport of wounded soldiers." The motion was carried. The resignations of several members were received and accepted.
