SWIMMER HONOURED.

PLUCKY ACT OF B. C. FREYBERG RECOGNISED BY ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur, Swimming Association held last evening it was unanimously decided :—- "Thai the association's certificate of the Legion of Heroism he conferred on Licut.Commandcr R. C. Freybcrg for the act of conspicuous heroism at the Dardanelles for which lie was awarded the D.5.0." This is the first, occasion on which the certificate has been awarded by the New Zealand Association. Recent cable messages explained that Lieut, Freyberg swam ashore, and towed rafts with flares. Although alone, he reconnoitered the enemy's position for two hours, and later swam back.
