SENDING COMFORTS.

HOW TO GO ABOUT IT. Press A,ißociatio7i. WELLINGTON, July 5. As a considerable number of letters have been .received from all oyer. New Zealand, and in - 'particular from officials of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade, asking what comforts are required at the various base and stationary hospitals in which our sick, and wounded are located abroad, telegrams were dispatched Mtk the object of obtaining, the necessary information, and the following is a list of articles compiled from the replies received: — dinm-weight shorts (woollen material)., vests*, drawers, socks, cholera belts, pyjamas, and towels. It is, however, suggested that, no further donations ; sin money should be made to the Hospital Ship Fund, as there are sufficient surplus funds available not.only for reequipping the ship, but also for assisting our sick and wounded. In order, nevertheless, to facilitate the dispatch of future consignments of comforts, the Uuder-Secretary of thei Department of Internal Affars has undertaken to make; all shipping arrangements, and- he has also been authorised by me to defary any charges, whpn necessary, in connection therewith from the Hospital Ship Fund. All cases should be addressed | as follows:—"For hospitals for sick and wounded, Officer Commanding, New Zealand base," Alexandria," and should be sent to the Under-Secretary, Department of Internal. Affairs, Wellington, after the consignor has ascertained from him the date' on which he wishes the goods to arrive in Wellington. In or-| der to avoid mistakes, it is. particularly j requested that the above instructions ! be followed minutely, as the Under-Sec-retary for Internal Affairs is also undertaking to arrange for the shipment of all goods given; for the benefit of the Belgians. —(Signed) Liverpool.
