The High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, April 26

In the Carpathians ou Thursday and Friday night a series of Austrian attacks against the heights occupied by the Russians in the regiou of Polen were repulsed with enormous losses to the enemy. 'The Austrian* made equally unsuccessful attempts in the region of Wofosate, north-west of the Us/.ok Pass. The Russians progressed ou Friday in the district of Nedcvec, south-east of the Kostok Pass aud at Siauki, two miles from the head of the Us/.ok Pass. After obstinate fighting, the Russians seized a series of important heights in those regions.
