FIRES.
At about 8 o'clock last evening the Fire Brigade received a call to a fourroomed cottage at 82S Colombo Street North, where two small outbroaks were discovered, one in the front of the house and the other in the scullery, a mattress in the first caste and some old clothes in the other being on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, and little damage was done. The cottage is partly furnished, and is said to have been virtually unoccupied for some time past. Owing to the suspicious circumstances of the outbreak, the matter is engaging the attention ot' tho police. The Fire Brigade wert summoned to 16:; Salisbury Street at S o'clock last evening, where an outbreak was discovered in a house of seven Zooms, occupied by Mrs Seeker. A candle had ignited a curtain in one of the bedrooms and the /lames spread to the woodwork. The brigade was summoned, ;uui the fire was extinguished. The contents of the room were slightly damaged.
