A NEW DEVELOPMENT.
CROZIER ARRESTED. TAKEN TO LYTTELTON. An extraordinary development in the case occurred shortly after noon to-day, when the appellant Crozier was arrested by Constable Brooks and taken to Lyttolton. The warrant for his arrest alleged that he had not met certain legal liabilities in connection with the case, which has occupied so much attention at various times. The circumstances regarding the arrest may be briefly explained. An order was made by Mr V. G. Day, S.M., in Mr Myers's favour on March 4 last, and an appeal was promptly lodged against it. Mr Myers, however, took steps to enforce the order, and the charge against Crozier of failing to comply with it was to come on at Ashburton last Friday fortnight. The case did not come on at that time, because in «the meantime MiMyers had been arrested for non-pay-ment of costs, and he went to Lyttelton. As Mr Myers could not be at Ashburton to prosecute his case, the hearing was adjourned until last Friday. Mr Myers having been released after five days' incarceration, the case against Crozier, who was charged with failure to comply with tho order made against him, was heard last Friday, Mr Day refusing an adjournment. An order was made by tho Magistrate sentencing Crozier to imprisonment for a month. A warrant was issued for his arrest, .and it was executed to-day. This morning Crozier's appeal against the order made by Mr Day was heard, and judgment is to be given to-morrow afternoon.
