SPREYDON PROGRESS LEAGUE.
At a meeting of the Spreydon; Progress League it was resolved to nominate Messrs E. H. Clark, A. Manhire, G. Budd, and A. C. Peperell as councillors for the Eaist Ward, and Messrs W. Gahagan, J. Watt, and O'Bourke for the West Ward. Very strong committees were set up to further their interests. The league's candidate for the Mayoralty, Mr W. H. Winsor, gave a snort address= on the praetical and financial state of the borough's affairs. ( The question of a protest to the'authorities on the sinking, of wells near the borough's boundaries for the Christchurck City Council's. high pressure water, service, to the great detriment of the weQa in the borough, and also the injustice of a small portion of Spreydon being.intcluded in the Hackthorne Boad Tramway special area, was set down for discussion at the next meeting.
THE MAYOBALTYC - , ; A meeting of Mr T. Woods's General Committee was held in the Methodist Schoolroom on Thursday evening. ■Mr Elliott presided over a large attendance, and the four sub-committees' reports, which were very favourable to Mr Woods's candidature, were adopted audi received. Offers of conveyances for polling-day were accepted with thanks. After making arrangements for. the opening of the campaign, it was resolved to call the committee together at a future date to make final arrangements for the conduct of the poll.
