On Easter Monday a young man named Boy Batcnp, " 22 years of age, left a camp on Rabbit Island, to go to Richmond, riding across the channel at low water. His horse turned up at Richmond, but no trace could be found of Bateup. Search parties were out all the week, and to-day Bateup was found nearly dead from exhaustion and exposure, but otherwise uninjure'd. He is progressing favourably, but is unable yet to give an account of what happened to him. RIDING FATALITY. WAIPAWA, April 10. Miss Marion Godfray died yesterday as a result of injuries received through being thrown from her horse at Waipukurau on Tuesday. She was found unconscious on the road, and never recovered consciousness.
