A FATAL FIRE.

SEAMAN -BURNED.

Press Association. NELSON, March 4. Tho Royal Hotel, a three-storey wooden building in Bridge Street, owned by Dodson and Son, and of which E. Cann was the lieonseo, was gutted oarly this morning. The flames started in the back portion, and spread rapidly. Some of the inmates had only timo to escape, and it was found later that one boarder, Frank Bloonifield, aged 57, a native of Australia, and employed as a seaman on the scow Oban, was missing. His charred remains were found on the floor joists. Tho insurances on the hotel wore £SOO in the Standard office, and £IOO iu tho Alliance office.
