"DARK DEEDS."
THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP. OWNUR WANTS TO -ADDRESS MKKT[NGS.Another development in the history of the Old Curiosity Shop in High Street, and of the attendant matters to which its owner devotes his attention, has occurred, with the dispatch of the following letter to the Mayor (Mr H. Holland): "11. Holland, Mayor of Christchurch, and City Council, —I beg to apply for leave to speak in the Square on Saturday nights (on various subjects). I intend to tell the people the dark deeds that the Civil Servants are carrying out in the name of the Government. "If you will take the chair, I am prepared to speak in a hall. lam hopeful that a collection will cover the expenses. I can get some speakers, perhaps M.P.'s.
"Councillor Sorensen (on the subject yesterday) said T have a crank. This is No. 2 from him. I claim that it is not creditable to your council.— I am, W. Hodge. "See latest war news."
