LODGE MEETING.

MISTLETOE No. 3. At the half-yearly summoned me'eting Arch Druid Bro. A. Helwood occupied the chair. Intimation was received from the Grand Secretary (Bro. Walker) to the effect that the trophy won by the Druids at the Patriotic Demonstration would be awarded to the brother who introduced the most new members to the Order during the ensuing quarter, the competition being open to the whole of the lodges in Canterbury; also giving notice that a meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter would be held in the Druids Hall on December 23, at 8 p.m.; and also giving information concerning re-insurance of members who had joined the Expeditionary Force. ~ P.G.P. Bro. W. Bailey wrote resigning the office of treasurer, owing to failing health. The resignation was accepted. The bards reported on the sick under their care, and sick pay amounting to £lB 10/- was passed for payment. A Christmas grant of £1 to each of three brothers, and £2 to another, with various accounts amounting to £5 5/6 were passed for payment. The balance-sheet for the half-year was received and read, showing the total receipts to have been £662 17/9, and total expenditure £625 17/10. The auditors' report having been received, the balancesheet was adopted on the motion of Bro. Ives, seconded by Bro. Elliot. D.P. Bro. Talbot, in accordance with notice of motion, moved to have certain alterations of the rules placed on the order paper for next Grand Lodge session. The effect of this alteration, if carried, will be to make the election of officers annual, instead of half-yearly as at present. The election of officers resulted as follows: —A.D., Bro. Joll; V.A., Bro. Elliot; secretary, Bro. Batley (re-elected) ; treasurer, Bro. Ives; M.S., Bro. McLay (reelected) ; A.D. bards, Bros. Allan and Donaldson (re-elected); V.A. bards, Bros. Harris and Allan Jun.; 1.G., Bro. Lightfoot; 0.G., Bro. Baty; hall committee, Bros. Baty and Talbot; trustee, Bro. F. E. Talbot; dispensary delegates, Bros. Falck and Booth; Grand Lodge representatives, Bros. Talbot, Ives,.and McLay. The district president, assisted by P.A. Bro. Marriot, of the Pioneer Lodge, then installed the officers for the term, the ceremony being carried through in a most impressive manner. The newly-installed officers returned thanks, and Bro. Batley then spoke in appreciation of the great services rendered to the lodge and order by Bro. Bailey during his 35 years in office. Bro. Bailey is one of the charter members of the Mistletoe, and has not been absent from lodge on more than five occasions (three times absent on lodge business and twice through illness). Bro. Batley asked for the assistance of the brothers at the Patriotic Demonstration to be held in Lyttelton on New Year's Day. It was moved and carried that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the retiring J.P.A., Bro. Snook, that his name be placed on the respect board, and that he be presented with a framed diploma. The lodge was then closed in due form.
