NEW CLAN LINERS. j Latest mail advices from Home record' that j in September Messrs Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., launched from their Wallsend shipyard the steamer Clan Ross for Messrs Cayzer, Irvine, and Co.'s Clan Line Steamers, Ltd., Glasgow. She has now been completed, and delivered to her owners after a successful trial run at sea. She is a fine type of first-class cargo liner, built with a cruiser _ stern', and is 445 ft long over-all, 54ft broad, and and 32ft moulded depth. The triple and expansion engines and the boilers were built at the Neptune works of the builders. Messrs William Doxford and Sons, Ltd., Pallion, Sunderland, launched the 'tween-deck. steamer Clan Ogilvy, for the same line. Her length is 444 ft, breadth 54Jft, moulded depth 32ft, d.w. capacity 8900 tons. During construction she was superintended by Mr T. Ambler, on behalf of her owners. The engines and boilers were supplied by Messrs Doxford, and the classification is with the JBritish Corporation. The christening ceremony was performed by Mrs Arthur Cayzer on October 20.'
