LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
GEBMA& TE!AI>ERS. To the Editor..'of THE StJH. Sir,—Can you inform ttfe public what t steps the authorities are taking re business firms run with German capital and controlled by, Germans.:. It is time that all Gerinari tVadeirß should' be boycotted,: and the public should refuse to' buyany thing but goods of British* manufac- . ture or goods in the 7 countries of our allies! • TKcU writer liasrefused' German ten years.. Wake up, Glfristchurehj and enj courage your own industries.—l am, etc./ BRITISHER. f [The affairs of at least eneGerman concern are in the hands of the Public Trustee —Ed. The Sun.] • MR HORRELL AND MR ISITT. To the EdifcM ipf THEi SUN. Sir,-rrl have not retorted ; upon Mr Fred Horrell in • thiscorrespondence, and liave no intention of doing so. In self-def<Jiice v ■!' am compelled to explain one or two references in letter. The letter read by me iii' the House and referred to by Mr Horrell as "obtained by little less than treachery," I cut from the columns of the '' New Zealand Times." It was then public property. Mr Massey says it was stolen from the Auckland Post Office. Some months after , its appearance in the newspaper I was informed by a South Island resident that it; was sent to him, and that he was so disgusted withit that he sent it on ta the "Times." How ever the "Times" got it was certainly not my matter. Once it appeared in that paper I surely had the right to read it to the House. I did not < speak in the Avon district, and before I spoke in Mataura I was definitely informed that Mr Mehaffey supported the 45-55 reduction of the three-fifths handicap. If Mr Horrell really believes that any compact' was made between Mr Nordon and myself lie had better ask that gentleman. If he will call ; > upon Mr Kenneth Matheson, Colombo Street, I think Mr Matheson will .be able to satisfy him that several prominent liquor men were working against me very vigorously on polling day. • I regret this correspondence, and so far as;J am concerned it ends with this letter. —I am, etc., r LEONARD M. ISITT.
