DESERTING SEAMEN.
PREFERRED A SOLDIER'S LIFE. Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 15. Five deserters from the s.s. Buteshire appeared at the Police Court this morning. Four left the ship with the object of enrolling in the Expeditionary Force, and two of them would have beeu valuable acquisitions, one having served 14 years in the Navy and reaching the highest non-commissioned rank, and the other had been in the British Army. The men said they had been refused at Home because they were over the age. The Magistrate ordered the men to be placed on board before the ship sailed this afternoon.
