WEDDING.

A pretty, though quiet, wedding was j solemnised at St. John's Church, Latimer Square, on Tuesday, when Mr Leslie Howe, son of Mr T. W. Howe, solicitor, of this town, was married to Miss Elsie Keith. The bride wore a charming gown of white crepe de ehine, made with an accor-dion-pleated tunic, the bodice ornamented with true-lovers' knots in satin. Her veil was of embroidered tulle, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white carnations and maiden-hair fern. The' two little golden-haired bridesmaids, Misses Olive :Rowe, the bridegroom 's sister, and Dora .Steel, neice of the bride, wore pretty Grecian frocks of white Japanese silk, with sashes and fillets of pale green. The bride's mother, Mrs Keith, was gowned in a costume of grey cloth, grey toque relieved with tangerine velvet. Mrs T. W. Rowe, the bridegroom's mother, chose a gown of cinnamon-brown marquisette, worn with a coat of cream Irish lace, and a cream straw hat with white tulle and roses. After the eeremony a wedding reception was held at the residence of the bridegroom 's parents, at which the usual wedding toasts were enthusiastically honoured. Later on the bride and bridegroom left for a short holiday, prior to embarking on Thursday (to-day) for Sydney, en route to Ceylon, which is to be their future home. A large number of gifts were received, including a quantity of silver plate, and several cheques for substantial amounts. The Canterbury College Club presented the bridegroom with a silver-mounted tobacco pouch and case of silver-mounted pipes. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a pair of drop pearl earrings, and the bride's to the bridegroom a pair of gold cuff-links. The bridesmaids received pretty gold brooches and bangles.
