ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
COMMITTEE MEETING-. A meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury and West Coast Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association was held in their rooms, 119 Worcester Street, last evening, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes in the chair. There were also present: Mrs H. li. Smith, Lieuten-ant-Colonels Walter, Thomas, and Cresswell, Dr. Inglis, and Messrs T. G. Riches, H. J. lioddinott, H. Thomas, and Esselborne. Amongst the correspondence was a letter from Miss Gibson, lady principal of the Girls' High School, asking permission for the formation of a teachers' class in connection with the association. The letter was replied to by the secretary, Mr C. J. Treleaven, who stated that the committee had decided to comply with the request. Mr P. Thompson, general manager of the Christchurch Tramways, wrote suggesting the formation of an ambulance class among the employees of the board, to which the secretary replied, acceding to the request. During the evening the subject of loaning the collection boxes out to various institutions was brought up, it being resolved "That all previous resolutions in connection with these collection boxes be rescinded, and they be not allowed off the premises for any other purposes than the St. John Ambulance Association.'' This resolution was the result of the expense invariably entailed by the association in the matter of repairs, which were found necessary after the return of the boxes. Future applicants would, instead, be supplied with collection tins. '
