THE "OSTRICH FARM" RAILWAY.

The double line on the right of the plan is the Auckland-to-Wellington railway. The broken line starting from Paerata Junction and running through the centre of section 80 (the Helvetia Ostrich Farm) shows the original route of the Waiuku" railway as surveyed oyer 20 years ago. The firm line branching from the Main Trunk line at a point below Paerata Station and cutting through the sotith-eastern corner of the tostrich farm,, and thence running through section 2 of the Borough of Pukekohe, shows th.e line now under construction as authorised by the Massey Government in 1912. ! The original survey, it will be noted, provided for a railway ; station on the, ostrich farm itself, and the line would have run.right through the centre of the farm, thus considerably enhancing its value. As re-s'nrveyed.and authorised, and as now being constructed, it will be absolutely useless to the property, ; Paerata, as at present, remaining the nearest railway station, . . ?
