[Written for THE SUN.] English letters tell us that the men of Devon are living up to .their old record: The men are .going to the front in the same amazing numbers in. which they went out to fight, the Armada. ■ This is a slight attempt to* express the spirit of Devon in the Devon lingo:— Did ee think us'd stay? Iss fay! , What, us Devon men; Did ee then? You 'm . dummle-headed sure, Iss-bore. • Did ee niver 'ear-of Drake? Law's sake! Nor cet Buller and Grenvillef "• Aw, well. Why, where was ee raised ? You ? ni mazed. This yer Kayser Beel Us veel,, Nivcr s eard of- Devon, By 'Enven!,,.. Of e'd niver .'ye went to war, Iss f>ure. k "Us'll give 'im summat, By crummet! E'll vind us pretty tough, Sure 'nough. Us 'll give 'im ■ Waggon Hi 11, So us will. ' Passon give us the word, Passon Hurd. In's zarmon 'e explain, Plain as plain. Sed us mus' all go, So us'll go. J.
