BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SPREYDON. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Spreydon Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present*. —Crs 13. H. Clark (in the chair), W. H. Winsor, T. Woods, E. Hayes, G. H. Eudd, D. Sykes, and S. Hancock. / • - The financial statement showed receipts since last meeting amounting to £137 11/1. The bank balances were as follow: District Fund Account, Dr. £1529 2/3; Loan Account, Cr. £4O 0/3; Loan Interest Account,' Cr. £77 10/-; and Shingle Pit Account, Dr. £76 17/6. Accounts amounting to £282 19/1.1 were passed for payment. The Sports Protection League wrote stating that they had promoted a movement to provide a Christmas gift for the Belgians, by means of a universal 1/•subseription, and asking the assistance of the council by introducing -it into the district.
It was decided to open up a subscription list in the borough. Any subscriptions handed in to the Town Clerk will be gratefully acknowledged. On the motion o'f Cr Winsox, it was decided to proceed with the poll of ratepayers in donnection with the proposed Drainage Loan.
