NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.

ANNUAL MEETING. Last evening the annual meeting' of the'council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held, there being present Messrs G. Harris (president), F. BoAvler (vice-president), H. S. Williams (Auckland), P. C. J. Fantham (Westland), J; R. Buchanan (Nelson), F. Bryant (Wanganiii), J. 11. Knudson (Hawke's Bay), F. L. Anderson (South Canterbury), F. Stokes (Canterbury), and P. Ni Bundle (Otago), secretary. - ; In the annual report it was stated that during the year, in all, 192 learners, 1039 proficiency, and 330 merit ccrti: ficates were issued, the'totals to each centre being as' under:—-' > 1913-14. 1912-13. The balance of assets over liabilities was set down as £176 10/8.

The chairman, in moving the adoption of the roport and balance-sheet, mentioned the very satisfactory increase in the number of certificates issued, regretting that the two principal local schools, Christ's College and the Boys' High School, were . apparently backward in this connection. The performance of the girls - had.been remarkable. In regard to life-saving grants the difficulty with the Life-Saving Society was caused by the society itself. As soon as the council was satisfied that the money would be properly expended, it would be handed over. >

The report -ami balance-sheet was adopted.

Otago, Auckland, and- Westland applied for the 191.6 championships, which were allotted to Otago.

The election of officers resulted in Mr G. Harris being re-elected president, Mr P. N. Bundle secretary, and Mr B. O. Duncan auditor.

Sub-committees were set up as follow:—Affiliation, Messrs ' C. Bryant, J. H. Knudson, F. Stokes, F. 0. 'j. Fantham, and P. N. Bundle. Government Grant Allocation: Messrs H. S. Williams, 0. Bryant, P. N. Bundle. Rules Bevision Committee: ' Messrs .7. R. Buchanan, F. Stokes, F. C. J. Fanthain, F. L. Anderson, and P. N. Bundle. Be visit of Duke Kahanamoku: Messrs C Bryant, H. S. Williams, F. C. J. Fanthain, .<)'. B. Buchanan, and P. N. Bundle. The subcommittee set up in connection with the proposed tour of Duke Kahanamoku reported, stating that as the Auckland Centre had guaranteed £IOO towards the expenses, and the other centres, with the exception of Hawkc's Bay and Wellington, being willing to contribute towards the cost, a cable had been sent to Australia on the 24th inst., stating that the tour for New Zealand, was arranged.

The sum of £55 was in hand from the centres. —This report was adopted.

The Minnehaha Ladies' Club, and the Y.M.C.A. Club, both of Dunedin, were granted affiliation.

The Hnwke's, Bay Centre wrote suggesting February U>, 15, 17, and 18 as the dates for the 3915 championships to be held at Napier. . These dates were approved. The secretary reported re the Wellington . Centre, which had failed to reply to correspondence. It was decided to write to the Wellington local officer bringing the matter under his attention.

'Remits passed at the annual conference of centres held at Blenheim were adopted as follow:"That no championship meeting extend over more than six days." ''That a N.Z. Diving Championship be-included at the championship meeting, under rules .provided by the council/'
