A WORD FOR MR RUSSELL.
To the Editor of THE SUN. Sir,— I am confident Mr Russell will i be returned for the very good reason that he has a sound political constitution, and has thrived and grown strong on political fare. .Mr Russell is in the front rank of the politically fit, and his services will be required to dislodge the Reformers from the entrenchments, once held for twenty years by the Liberals. The Liberals would not have been beaten had not the Labour ranks, in their confusion, fired on their friends. In the battle pending I would suggest, from a patriotic, poiut of view, that every elector avoid wearing a prohibition cap with a peak so large as to obscure his vision, or a "Bible-in-School hat" hanging too far over his ears, preventing him hearing the signs of the times, or ''the licensed victuallers' loose robe" that might interfere with the free movement of the feet, in the advance towards better conditions. This is not the time to follow the parties of,side issues up blind alleys, lest they become cut off from the main body and suffer defeat. Let him that is wise be a Liberal still. This is a land with enough and to spare. All that is required is strong Liberals to deal out the rations. He that is not liberal is a mean thing.—l am, etc., LIBERAL LATE OP AVON.
