She is expected back at New 'Zealand early in January. ? The Tohgariro' leaves Port Chalmers for Lyttelton this afternoon.. On Tuesday afternoon she is to leave Lyttelton for Timaru. The Turakina will leave Lyttelton next ■•; Thursday for Napier. Mr R. A. Barstow, of the staff of the Lyttelton office of the Union Company, returns from holiday leave to-morrow. Mr S. K. Ewan, who has been relieving him, has received orders to .join the Rosamond at Wellington as purser. Captain A. Davey, of the Kamona, is at on holiday leave.
The coastal steamer Wakatu will make a special trip to Kaikoura to-day, returning to Lyttelton probably on Monday. ■ An ;expected arrival at ..Wellington is the Huddart-Parkcr Company's steamer Wimmera, 'froni Melbourne and Hobart. She is bringing T *l2o passengers for New Zealand, and a large cargo. The Wimmera is due.at Lyttelton on Tuesday morning, sailing the same day for "Dunediu, Bluff, Hobart, and Melbourne.
. The A. and A. Line's chartered steamer. Purley arrived at Wellington from New York, via the Panama Canal and Auckland, .on Thursday evening." She will probably get "away for Lyttelton on Monday. , The Cliatliarn Islands Fishing Company's steamer Himitangi is scheduled to leave Wellington on Monday for Waitan'gi and ' Pitt Island. A load of wool will be brought back io Lyttelton. . After a passage of about four days, the Russian ship Painpa arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Dunedin, and was berthed at the Gladstone pier. The vessel has a cargo of 400,000 tiles to land, and during her stay will act as flagship at the regatta on New Year's Day. Early yesterday morning the big White Star liner Zealandic left Wellington for London. She took a large consignment of wool for the January sales, and is due at the Home port on January 8.
The Wootton arrived from Nydia Bay early this morning.. She leaves for Wellington tonight, taking her departure from that port on Monday for Port Hardy, where she will load sheep for Lyttelton. She is due hack here, on Thursday. The Anchor Shipping Company's steamer
Regulus, hound from Greymouth to Lyttelton, was compelled to put in at Picton yesterday for. shelter, through stress of weather. She. resumed her trip at 9 p.m. and should arrive nt Lyttelton to-day, sailing for Wellington on Monday.
Alter a fine trip across from Newcastle, the steamer Melbourne arrived at Lyttelton shortly after noon yesterday. She has about 2000 tons of coal to land here, and then goes on to Greymouth to load for Sydney. The steamer Caldergrove was dispatched from New York on October 21 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is bringing a full cargo of case oil for the Vacuum Oil Company, and is expected at Auckland early in December.
