Miss Elsie Nicholas, who was one of the most prominent amateurs in Gisborne, and who joined Stephenson and Linley's "80-peep" Pantomime Company as principal girl last year, has now joined the firm's "Humpty Dumpty" Company, and will make her first appearance in Christc.hureh as principal girl in the extravaganza, "The Jam of Cathay."

Celia Ghiloni is to appear as the Fairy Queen in the "Cinderella" pantomime—a substantial fairy! Maggie Dickenson, whose dancing was so delightful when last she appeared here in "The Forty Thieves," will again be principal dancer.

Eric Maxon made his last appearance in Australia in "Within the Law" at Melbourne Theatre Roy a 1 on November 14, and has left.for America.

The Wellington City Council has passed a by-law dealing with the practice of theatre managers of charging extra admission money for "early doors" after 7.30 p.m. it provides that it shall be the duty of the licensee of every licensed building to ensure that the building shall throughout be opened

to and accessible to the public on the payment of the ordinary minimum advertised prices for the period of at least half an hour immediately preceding the commencement of the piece. Every entertainment shall for the purposes of the clause be deemed in every case to commence at the opening overture or at the beginning of any musical item, or at the commencement of any other performance preliminary or introductory to the main entertainment.

Mr Jack MeArdle, a well-known London comedian, has arrived in Melbourne to play the Baron in the J. C. Williamson "Cinderella" pantomime. This will be his sixteenth pantomime.

Miss Violet Loraine, the clever principal "boy" of the "Puss in Boots" pantomime, is now appearing in "llullo, Tango," a London revue.

Dolores is expected to return to Melbourne from West Australia early in December, and will stay there over Christmas.

Dolly Castles, who is to appear in the "Cinderella" pantomime as principal girl, has recently been appearing in comic opera in America. She was principal boy in the '' Jack and the Beanstalk" panto, when produced at Drury Lane, and appeared with Barry Lupino, who was principal comedian.

Mr O. P. Heggie, a South Australian actor, who has done so well in London, has been engaged to "produce" and play the leading part in a Hans Anderson's fantasy in New York. Mr Heggie appeared here with W. F. Hawtrey in "A Message from Mars."

The Australian actress Gwen Burroughs has been engaged by Fred Niblo to play the blackmailer in the fareemelodrama "Seven Keys to Baldpate."
