THE MADRIGAL SOCIETY.

THIRD CONCERT. The Ohristehurch Glee ami Madrigal Society gave its third concert of the .season in the 'Choral Hall last evening. Encores were popular, a goodly percentage of the items being recall numbers. .The concert opened with the National Anthem, followed by the hymn, "From Homes of Quiet Peace." The vocal soloists of the evening were Mrs Gower Burns and Mr John O. McLean. Mrs Gower Bnrns's items were that dainty selection from Debussy's "L'enfant Prodiguc," and Carpentier's "E'er Since the Day." The singer was fortunate in receiving the dual gift of an encore and a floral bouquet. Mr McLean sang "The Bedouin Love Song," for which he was recalled. The other soloist was I)r Leslie Crooke, whose pianoforte solos were warmly acknowledged by the audience. His items were Chamhmde's "Pas des Amphores" and "Pierette," and Moszkowski's "Valse Brillantc." "The Image of the Rose" (a concerted number) was sung with a humming accompaniment, Mr C. Bills taking the solo part. Messrs O. Rodda and J. C. McLean sang the duet, "Love aud War." A melodious little composition by Adam Aisbel, "The Oars are Plashing." was given with good effect, as were also "Drink to Me Only" and "Come. Phyllis."
