THE LAST INSPECTION.
EARL ROBERTS'S DEATH. NATIONAL MEMORIAL PROPOSED. "Times'' and "Sydney Sun" Services. (Received November 19, 8 a.m.) LONDON, November 18. The "Daily Mail," describing the lato Earl Roberts's visit to the Indian troops, says:—"A penetrating wind was blowing, with occasional rain, when the gallant Field-Marshal inspected the Indian soldiers. He was without his great coat, and wore only his iield service dress, as he had discarded his overcoat, pointing out that it was only right that he should appear before his Indian troops in the khaki field service dress. Despite the protests of friends he adhered to this decision. In moving in the Houses of Commons and Lords addresses to the King regarding a national monument, Mr Asquith and Lord Kitchener paid glowing tributes to Lord Roberts's genius as a soldier and his character as a man. The Opposition leaders supported the motions.
