The Union Rowing Club "will com- 1 mence its President's Cup races tomorrow evening. Six crews have entered. The Racing Committee has de- . cided to row the race over the usual f course, although there are several very ; shallow parts in the river. Competi- : tion is very keen, and some good races : are expected. Empsou's crew is much > fancied, but Osborne has a good crew, : and rows a swinging stroke. Gibson's r crew is willing, but appears to make : plentv of splash. Meacheu's crew liavo had to replace their bow. Drayton 'a crew may prove to be the dark houses. The second round will be rowed on frriday evening, and the final on Saturday : afternoon. The crews for the Akaroa regatta will ; be picked immediately ou the conclusioa of this race*
