Sir, —Your correspondent, "For the Country,"'seems to have had a very serious bilious attack; which in some strange manner has affected his* judgment.; Does he think that the two gentlemen he refers to are the only flnes who are sick and tired of -pirty politics, and have come to .the Conclusion Xthkt J the>ofllJ r effective way to deal with ihema]tt<ar f iQ ;|hrough the ballotThe average politician who, previous to announcing his candidature, sits down "and carefully calculates in which way certain views will either assist or impede his chances, .mustbe shown that behind'this movement ihere.iare scores of the matter settled by the people's tribune, the ballot-box. " For the Country';suggests disfranchisement- Well, I thought that we were living'in the twentieth century, with all its boasted free speech, etc., but your correspondent- would take us back a few centuries. •
Let it be understood that this question is .a. vital "one, and my advice to all supporters is to vote solid against the, candidates who are unwilling to let the people decide.—Yours, etc., J ! FOR THE DOMINION.
