CANTERBURY KENNEL CLUB.
ANNUAL SHOW. The annual Canterbury Kennel Club Show attracted" dog-flesh of many kinds and ages, from' the veteran who -has been in 'many a show, to the puppy of only a few months old—a surprised and protesting puppy in the main, and extremely vocal on the subject of his wrongs. Indeed,, every dog was more or less clamorous as the morning .advanced, and not even the .most adoring epithets lavished on them by adoring owners Alleviated their distress the least bit. ' There was a fine collection of fox-terriers —one of the best of recent years —and bull dogs .were also greatly in evidence. Amongst the latter was a fine non-competitive exhibit —a white bull dog—and some very pretty specimens were shown in the puppy class. The Ladies,' Bracelet, by the way, was won by one of the bull (log breed. , Exhibitors came from as far north as Auckland, and also from such southern centres as Dunedin, Timaru, and Oamaru. Mr L. A. Russell, of Dunedin, and Mr E. J. Smith, Hastings, were amongst the principal' exhibitors in fox terriers. Some very* good Pomeranians were shown, this being a class that is showing an advance in quality and quantity as compared with previous shows. Cocker Spaniels were shown in considerable 1 variety, some very nice dogs in the rather' Uncommon "blue black" colour being greatly admired. Most of the classes filled up well, and the judges found considerable difficulty at times in picking o\it file most meritorious exhibit.
The prize list of the show is unavoidably held ovev until to-morrow for want of space.' . ' 4
