KEEPING HEALTHY.
"THE SALT THAT SWEETENS LIFE."
The great danger of depending for supplies on the importations from other countries has: been made so manifest by the present war that people are already bestirring themselves to ensure that hereafter New Zealand shall make proper use of the resources at its disposal, and not rely on the caprices of fate to permit foreign countries to hold the trades that should really be home industries. As every article Which New Zealand can herself prepare for use is an added step to, that complete self dependence which is so eminently desirable, it is the duty of the people to forward, the movement that has been already commenced by the thoughtful for the support of all home industries. New Zealand goods for New Zealanders is the axiom that will hereafter be followed, and as the New Zealander has already demonstrated his ability to manufacture goods equal to any imported there is every inducement for the public to support home-maxie goods. • In pharmacy; as in other branches, New Zealand Jias been gradually building up. a. trade with home manufactures that in nearly all cases equal, and in many excel, the imported-articles. Mr H. F. Stevens, the well-known wholesale chemist and druggist of Christchurch, is particularly well known for his local manufactures. The- extensive Sale of Stevens's Health Salts is the best proof of the popularity and efficiency of this article. The demand for Stevens's Health Salts has so. increased since they were-first put upon the market that at the present time a special plant, with drying ovens and all requisite accessories is kept constantly engaged. It is not at all. surprising to find thak a commodity that has full efficiency to recommend it is fast driving the imported articles off the market. Stevens's Health Salts are sold at all"chemists' and storekeepers throughout New Zealand, at 1/6 per bottle, a price much below that' of the imported articles. It requires only one trial of Stevens's Health Salts to convince anybody that it is, indeed, '' the salt that sweetens Life," and those giving it a trial;will never return again to the imported
article. The demand for supplies is increasing all the time, and the business of its manufacture has already entailed proportions never anticipated when itspreparation was first undertaken.
