PRODUCE AND WOOL. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. (Received November 7, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, November 6. Wheat is very firm, and is sparingly offered at a sixpenny advance. Australian is 49/6. Flour is quiet and firm; Australian store, 35/- to 30/-. Oats are firm; New Zealand store, 30/- to 32/-. Peas and barley are firm and unchanged. Beans are firm. ' New Zealand store, 40/- to 42/-. There is strong competition for all sorts of wool, crossbreds bringing fancy prices, while merinos are firm. LONDON WOOL SALES. November ?, 12.35 p.m.) ¥■' LONDON, November 6. At the wool sales all crossbreds and shafty combings were very firm, but short and faulty combings were slow of sale. New Zealand prices were: — Ohura, top 17£ d, average 16|d; Moa Flat, 16d and 15gd. LIVERPOOL COTTON MARKET. (Received November 7, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, November 6. The Liverpool cotton market has reopened, on restricted lines. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. Messrs Weddel and Co. report as follows: ' The market; at Smithfield this week has beenquiet for all descriptions of frozen meat, supplies of Home killed befef, Dutch mutton, -and pork having arrived in large quantities, and this has had an adverse effect on the position of the market. LAMBS. Canterbury lambs .have • declined Jd per lb in values since last advice, .current prices being 6£d per lb for o/421b, 6Jd for 36/42, and 6£d for u/36. Prime North Island lambs are selling at £d per lb under these quotations. . The few Australian lambs available are meeting with a slow sale ,at s£d to 6£d per lb delivered a€ Smithfield. River Plate lambs are quoted at s£d to 6sd per lb. • MUTTON. Supplies in store ate short and with a good demand values have again advanced, Canterbury sheep not now being procurable under ssd to 5Jd per lb, and North Island carcases at s§d per : lb. New Zealand ewes ~ a*< 3 quoted at s§d per lb. Australian wethers have realised s£d to 58d per lb, and .River Plate carcases are selling at 58d to per lb. BEEF. In consequence of the heavy supplies and lower values ruling, for Irish: cattle, the frozen article ,has be<en :almost neglected this week, and for th;e few sales made lower ' prices have befen accepted. The investment market lias remained quiet during the week, and there Is practically no to report oi tlie. chie£ stocks. Buyers are quotipg regularly at prices showing little variation for a month' past, while sellers are quoting firm. In the chief mining stocks, Waihis and Grand Junctions weakened slightly towards the end of the week, and Talismans remained stationary. Banks.—A sale -of. Bank of New Zealand (£3 6/8 paid) was reported at. £lO 2/6. Buyers are noV offering £lO, with Bellers at £lO 6/-. Buyers of the fully ; paid issue are quoting £ls, with tellers at £1 & 5/-. Two sales of National; Banks were reported j>t:.£s 3/- and £5 3/9. Buyers' are offering £5 3/and sellers £5 3/6. Union Banks, are wanted at £sl, and sellers afci,£s2, butno business has been recorded. I' : ' Gas.—Three sales o^:'Auckland Gas .were reported at 27/9-and 2|/- (2). .Ciiristcriurcli Gas shares remain unchanged at sellers £7 5/-, with no buying ;price A'sale of Wellington Gas was reported at £l6 ,2/6. . Insurance.—The> only sale recorded under this heading was New Zealand Insurance at £5 12/-. The annual balance-sheet of the National Insurance Company shows a net profit of £35,665 for the past as against £50,210 for the previous year. Coal.—Sales of Westports at 32/- and Taupiris at 17/6, were recorded. There aro buyers of \V,estports at . 31/0. Westport Stocktons at 2/il, with no sellers. Grand Junction: Sales of these shares were reported last week at 24/6. 'This, week prices have declined from 24/3 to 24/-. Buyers are now offering 24/-, with sellers at 24/3.
