ADDINGTON MARKET.
AN AVERAGE SALE. The sale to-day at the Metropolitan Yards was an average one. Beef was in fair supply, with a rather weaker demand. Store sheep sold freely at late rates, and fat sheep were yarded in fairly large numbers. STORE SHEEP. The yarding was a representative one in this division, in fact the largest since the sales of the early winter. Hoggets and ewes with lambs made up the bulk of the entry, -with a few f dir-sized lines of grown wethers. The sale dragged rather at the commencement, but the prospect of rain and the vendors adhering to reserves firmed the market'up, and the bulk of the yarding was sold at rates fully equal to last week's sales, and in many cases rather better values were obtained. Values were as follow: — WOOLLY. Fair-mouthed ewes with lambs, to 13/(all counted). Failing-mouthed ewes with lambs, 11/5 (all counted). ' . Cull ewes with lambs, '9/5 (all counted). . . Forward four and six-tooth wethers, 21/-. Good ewe hoggets, to 20/3. Best wether hoggets, to 16/11. Medium wether hoggets, 13/10 to 14/9. Dry merino ewes, 11/3. SHORN. Fairly forward four-toooth wethers, 15/- (passed). Very forward four-tooth wethers, to 16/4 (passed). Very medium wether hoggets, to 11/3. Fairly good wether hoggets, to 13/1. Some 264 fat lambs were yarded, rather more than the market required, and a good proportion passed at auction. Values ranged from 10A to 21/-. A slightly easier demand for beef was experienced, and, a decline of about 1/- per 1001b can be recorded. The yarding totalled 241 head as compared with 179 last week, 240 at the previous sale, and 263 on October 7. The quality was about the usual, prime stuff being rather scarce. A big entry of fat pigs was penned, the entry including a lot of unfinished pigs, and prices were rather lower, especially for lighter pigs. Values were as follow: — Choppers 55/- to 80/-. Extra heavy baconers to 75/-. Heavy baconers 60/- to 70/-. Lighter baconers 50/- to 57/6. Average price per lb s:|d. Heavy porkers 42/- to 45/-. Lighter porkers 36/- to 40/-. Average per lb 6d.
