Having completed discharge of her cargo of coal, the Union Company's Katoa left Lyttelton late last night on her return to. New- - castle. ■ ■'; Captain H. White-Parsons, master of the Tarawera, who has been appointed harbourmaster at Napier, went ashore at Wellington - yesterday, and has been succeeded by Captain Drewette. After being shut off from the intercolonial service; for several \veek« ; Bluff was again \-isited by a steamer direct from Australia '" -yesterday, when the Union Company's Paloona (formerly the Huddart-Parker steamer Zealandia) reached that port. ; It was formerly the custom for Bluff to have two intercolonial steamers ; in epprt, on the Monday, one arriving from Melbourne, via Ho- , bart, ai\d proceeding to Sydney, via Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington,, and the , other coming from the north and leaving for - Hobart and Melbourne. The Paloona is due to leave Bluff to-day for Dunedin, where she will, withdraw for overhaul, and the Warrimoo will take up her running. A cablegram from Vancouver announces the arrival* there on Thursday last of the R.M.S. Niagara from Auckland. The and Dominion steumer Star of-Scotland, from New York, via ports,
is due at Lyttelton from Wellington to-mor-row. The Huddart-Parker liner Wiinmera will take up the Melbonrne-Hobart service in conjunction with the Union Company, and will leave Lyttelton on November 9 for Hobart and Melbourne, via Dunedin and Bluff. In consequence, the Ulimaroa will now run between Lyttelton, Wellington, Sydney, and Hobart, cutting out Melbourne. The Union Company's Corinna arrived from the south this' morning, and sails tonight for Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Onehunga. The Kini leaves to-night for Groymouth. The Kowhai will not be here until Friday, thence being dispatched for Napier and Gisborne. The Poherua is expected to sail from Greyuiouth to-night for Lyttelton, and the Kittawa will probably get away from Westport on Saturday. The Blackball Coal Company's collier Ngatoro is expected to leave.Greymouth to-night for Lyttelton with a cargo of coal.
