CADET MANOEUVRES.
SNOW SHIELD CONTEST. Yesterday afternoon two teams from the Christ's College Corps, and two from the Christehurch Boys'. High School entered in the military competition for the Snow Shield. At about 1.40 p.m. a team from each . school marched towards the Hills, down Lincoln Road, turning to the left from the Mental Hospital, and proceeding to the Cashmere Homestead, where the competitions were carried out. About an hour later the other two teams left the barracks as a body of reinforcing Scouts, whose object was to get in touch.^with,..the,, .enemy.- In the. valley behind the Cashmere Homestead two groupsof ten " head and shoulder'' targets were, placed at unknown, ranges, the competitors having to .advance under active service conditians, aiming at the targets from different points. The sOjUad, which put out of action the greatest number of targets representing the enemy were to be adjudged the. winner, while points were also given for method of attack. Colonel Cooper, assisted by Majors Finnis and Meddings and other officers, did the. judging, and there were also present Colonel Chafley and Lieutenant-Colonel Bond. The competition was very keen, and the result was that the Christ's College No. 2 team and the Boys' High School No. 1 team tied, with a total of 355 points each. Christ's College No. 1 team scored 344 points, and Boys' High School No. 2 scored 294 points.
