*vlr W. F. Redmond lias been appointed chairman of directors'of the Standard Insurance Company of New Zealand, in succession to the late Hon. Thomas Fergus. Mr T. E. Treadwell, principal of the Eangiora Boys' High School, who has been acting as assistant inspector of secondary schools, has notified the Board of Governors of the Eangiora Hi"-h School of his intention to resume his duties as principal of the school on January 3 next.
