PATRIOTIC FUND.
EDUCATION INSTITUTE COMMITTEE.
The committee set up by the North Canterbury Educational Institute, to deal with contributions from teachers to the Canterbury Patriotic Fund met on Saturday. Present —Messrs J.» J. Adams, T. S. Foster, F. T. Evans, F.D. Waller, and A. C. Maxwell. The treasurer reported that the staffs of 144 schools had responded to the first circular, and a total pf £275 1/1 had been received." In. addition to this amount, Mr E. U. Just, treasurer of th» - New Zealand Educational Institute, had received £2OO fr<Sm teachers for the * Empire Defence Fund.. The secretary reported that the second .circular, asking for regular month* ly contributions, had been sent out, anti that replies were coming to hand. It was decided ; to close the first fund. Mr T. S. Foster was appointed auditor."
