Colonial, in the absence of supplies, is nominally unchanged. Cheese.—The market is very .firm. Canadian, 76/- to 77/-. * ■ WOOL. On the Bradford wool market iall erossbreds are advancing strongly. Merinos are hardening and meet with a good enquiry. Sixty-fours 29d, supers 28d, common sixties 27d,' fifty-sixes 26d, fifties 23id]' forty-sixes 2<sd, forties 18M. . ' ' . ■ Messrs Dalgety and Company have received the following cablegram from the Adelaide branch, dated, October 15:; At the wool sale held to-day competition was animated, principally amongst Yorkshire buyers. As compared with opening rates of last year merinos are about 10 per cent?, lower. Crossbreds are 10 to 15 per cent, dearer. TO-DAY'S POULTRY MARKET. There was a good yarding of poultry to-day. Prices were exceptionally good. Table chickens realised 5/6 to 8/10, hens 2/6 to 6/6, pullets 3to 9/6, ducks 5/- to 8/2, turkey gobblers, 21/to 31/-, turkey hens 8/- to 14/6,. all per pair. The egg market is well supplied. Canterbury Egg Circle first grade realised 1/-, seconds lOd to lid per doz. THE SHARE MARKET. Business on the various Stock Exchanges continues very quiet, and the volume of transactions reported is small. Interest centres mainly on min-, ing stocks, although a somewhat weaked tone is noticeable. For several weeks past buyers have been more plentiful than sellers. A pleasing feature of -this week's returns is that sellers exceed the buyers which riiust give a further incentive to business. Banks. —The only sale reported in this section was a parcel of National Banks at £5 3/-. Sellers of this issue are quoting £5 4/-. Buyers of Bank of New Zealand fully-paid are offering £ls 5/- without sellers, while quotations for the other issue show buyers £lO, sellers £lO 7/-. Union Banks are quoted: Buyers £SO, sellers £52. Cas. —Sales were reported of Christchurch Gas at £7. 3/-, and Auckland Gas at 14/3 and 27/9, with of the former at £7 2/6.
Insurance.—There is a steady demanc for Insurance stocks, but buyers ar< not inclined to increase ( their prices Sales recorded this week are as follow! New Zealand £5 11/-, Standard 33/6, South British 81/-. The following .are the latest quotations: National buyers j 45/-, sellers 48/6; New Zealand sellers 82/-, Standard sellers 35/-. Shipping.—Several sales of _ Unio» Steam Ship Company ordinary share; have been recorded at 22/-. The pre ference issue is in demand at 20/-. - Coal.—Sales in this section arq:- Westports at 30/- and 30/6, and Taupiris at 18/-. The former appear to. be in firm demand, doubtless; due to the increased demand at the present time for theii output. Miscellaneous.—ln the woollen sec tion, buyers of Kaiapois are quoting ££ for' the ordinary issue and £4 18/6 foi the preference issue. ■ Sellers of. Whitcombe and. Tomba are willing to accept £5 15/-, and buyers of Farmers' Co-ops. are regularly quoting 43/-. - Mining.—Waihi: Prices declinedfrom 33/- at the beginning of the week; to 31/6 on Friday. Grand Junction:; Prices also eased from 23/6 to 22/9.' Talismans declined from 27/6 to Ross: .Reports of the work at this mine ' are very encouraging and prices *have increased. Buyers have been offering 9d for some weeks past, but sales have been effected this week at froiri 1/1 ta 1/6 '
