NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD.
The " British-Australasian " of August 27 has the following items of interest to New Zealand:— Dr Allen (New Zealand), of St. Bartholomew's, has offered his services to the War Office. Miss von Meyern, of Auckland, is staying down on- the south coast for a few weeks. Miss Eileen Sibbald, of Dunedin, hopes to return by the Ceramic next month, and to, visit Scotland shortly. Lord Islington, as Under Secretary of State - for the Colonies, has appointed 'Mr H. B. Cowell to be his private secretary. Mr T. W. Leys, of Auckland, and his party are at present in Nottingham, after having .stayed in Scotland and Yorkshire. They go on to Devonshire on Sunday. Mrs and Miss Goring Thomas, of Christchurch, have had to postpone their projected trip to Guernsey, as it is reported that there is only food in the island for the residents. New Zealanders who have trade associations with Bristol have cabled offering to the city a gift of frozen meat to the value of £460 for the families of Bristolians who are on active service. ! Dr W. H. Johnson, R.A.M.C., and Dr A. McMaster, 8.A.M.C., Mr Jeffcoat, Mr Corkill, all and Mr Bout, Infantry, have applied for commissions. All these gentlemen are members of, the Australasian Club, Edinburgh. Miss Florence Sheard, Miss Violet Mills, and Miss Eyre, all pf Canterbury, who have had to abandon a visit to the Continent, are touring in and later go to Scotland, where '-Miss: Mills will stay with her sister, now Dr Amy Gibbs, in Glasgow. ,
