Two boys, Cyril Clifton (aged 13), and Jack O'Shea (aged 11) wereplaying cOwboys at Grey Lynn this morning, when Clifton shot O'Shea dead, a bullet going through his companion's heart. Clifton, commercial traveller, residing at Millias Street, Grey Lynn, and O 'Shea's parents reside in Parnell, and the Boys were cousins. , It appears that on Friday last, during Mr Clifton's absence, a strange man put his head into a window and frightened Mrs Clifton so much that she was afraid to remain in the house, and went to stay with J her . sister, Mrs O'Shea, Cyril and O'Shea sleeping there. Cyril states that on Tuesda3 r night the strange man again appeared on the verandah. - He took his father's revolver out of a drawer, and had slept with it, under his pillow since. When .playing with his cousin this morning he got the revolver, and his cousin got a stick, pretending they were cowboys, or Indians. The revolver was always hard to fire, and he did not think it would go off by the mere placing of a finger on the trigger. FELL DOWN HOLD. WELLINGTON, October 1 15. While in San Francisco one of the R.M.S. Maitai's crew, named William Nichols, of Dunedin, had an altercation with the cook and over-balanced and fell down the hold, being killed instantly. At the inquest the cook was exonerated from' blame. FOUND DBOWNED. - WANGANUI, October 15. - The body of Frank Jefferson, a wellknown farmer of Marton, was found in the river to-day. He was the owner of the racehorse Merry Boy, which some years ago won the . Century Hurdles at, Wanganui.
