CAUGHT IN A TRAP.
GERMAN SUBMARINE SUNK. EXCITEMENT OFF'SCOTTISH COAST. ■■_;■■•■ . (Received Oetober 16; 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, October 15. The newspaper "Scotsman" states that a German submarine was seen off the east coast of Scotland recently. She was apparently relying on the presence of a.supply ship, but this was captured. .The submarine then lay on the sea bed in shallow water for some time, rising* occasionally for the renewal of air.-j She evidently thought she an opportunity of attacking ihe patrol; fleet, and thrice fired torpedoes. On the third occasion a'patrol .vessel located the submarine's periscope, but she escaped damage. ■>:. . The submarine then r dived,,and a cordon of destroyers waitecl until the vessel, which was practically without fuel, cameto the surface.
