BANNING THE BANDS. LOANS FOR GOVERNMENT WORKS. SYDNEY, October 15. The police have been ordered to prohibit German bands from playing in the streets till further notice. MELBOURNE, October 15. All the States have agreed to terms for securing loans for reproductive works. It is understood the basis of the scheme is co-operation with the Imperial Government in raising loans in London. On the recommendation of the Necessary Commodities Commission, the following prices have been fixed, operating from'to-day:—Wheat 4/6, flour £9 17/6, bran and pollard £6 -5/-, in the counties of Cumberland, and Northumberland, while for the rest of the State the prices are:,—Wheat 4/2, flour 17/6, and bran and pollard ,5/\ ■.?£,;. advance of the prices prevailing on August. !.• ~.. The price of. bread throughout the State has been,.fixed as that which prevailed on August 1. The price - of gas in the 'metropolitan- area lias been raised from 3/6 to 3/10. , The recommendations are confined to old wheat, and, do not affect the new crop. ....,,..
