ferred to the Wahine, relieving Captain Aidwell, who has gone ou holiday leave. An arrival at Lyttelton this morning was the auxiliary schooner Huia, from Auckland, Napier, and Wellington, with a cargo of explosives. She leaves Lyttelton this evening for Dunedin and Bluff. • The steamer Ennerdale Captain Rabinson, owner by the Maoriland Steamship Company of New Zealand, has been in very rough weather, and considerable damage has been done to her. During a recent passage from Brisbane to Newcastle a moderate east-north-easterly gale was encountered, accompanied by a nasty beam sea. The - Ennerdale shipped large quantities of water all the time, a cbn- . siderable amount of damage being done about the deck, especially to the casing of steam pipes leading to the winches. Subsequently the weather moderated, the wind veering round to the westward, and then to the south. When the Ennerdale was surveyed by Captain R. Douglas Taylor it was found that iron works, steam pipes, steam pipe casing, brackets, and ventilators had been damaged by the heavy seas shipped.
