HUNTLY MINES.
WORK TO BE RESUMED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 15. Arrangements have been made by; the directors of the Taupiri Coal Mines, Limited, for the resumption of work in the Extended.- mine upon the delivery of a limited supply of a "permitted" explosive which has been , obtained. in Australia. Notices were posted in Huntly yesterday by the manager of the Extended mine announcing that work would.be started in probably ten days. Considerable difficulty was experienced by the company in obtaining explosives that can be used without danger. Enquiries were instituted immediately the company was informed that
moaobel powder was "dangerous, but it was found that owing to interference with supplies by the war the stocks held in Australia were very low. The company also learned that explosives could not be exported from Australia without the permission of the defence authorities, and there wag the further difficulty that shipment could not be made in a passenger steamer. A small quantity of " permitted" explosive has been secured and will be brought to Auckland in a collier sailing from Newcastle. No adviee has yet been-reeeived as to whether the supplies ordered from England can be furnished.
