ADDINGTON MARKET.

A BIGGER SALE. The weekly sale at the Metropolitan Yards was rather larger to-day than for some time past, there being a good entry of store sheep, and fat sheep filled about seven races. Store sheep did not sell quite' so readily, about a third of the lots failing to change hands. Fat cattle were a shade weaker without being .quotably lower. In other departments the sale was much as usual. STORE SHEEP. A much larger entry of store sheep than usual came forward to-day, and. consisted chiefly of hoggets, with a few lines of wethers. There were also half a dozen pens of ewes and lambs. Ven- | dors had based their values for hoggets upon last week's prices, and in some cases rather above late .rates. From th; commencement bidding was rather slack and sales were only affected at prices a shade weaker than last sale. Vendors' anticipations of a rising market were not realised, due largely to the prevailing dry weather. A line of ewe lambs made 20/1, but they were rather better than anything of the kind seen in the yards of late. Yalues were as under: — HOGGETS. Best sorts 15/- to 16/3. Fair 14/- to 14/6. Medium 12/- to 12/6. Small 10/-. Best ewes 18/6 to 20/-. Fair ewes 17/- to 17/6. Small ewes 13/7. EAVES (With Lambs). Good s.m. (forward lambs) to 13/6. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients, 157 half bred ewe hoggets 20/1. ■* FAT SHEEP. As the yarding of fat sheep last week was particularly small, the prices ruled high. Usually a big yarding follows a small one, and to-day was no exception to the rule. At the opening of the fat sheep sale the prices ruled bii the same level as last week. Many butchers only secured small quantities last week, and had to buy more freely to-day. A West Coast buyer was present and prices ruled quite as high as last week. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., sold: On account a client, 60 wethers 28/6 to 31/11. LAMBS. .
