HISTORICAL SCOTTISH PAGEANT.

■• • * An historical Scottish pageant, in whieh only the juveniles of the Scottish Society will take part, is to be held on October 17, and promises to furnish a very interesting entertainment. I The pageant is being arranged by the Misses Agnes and Bessie Maedonald, the teachers of dancing in connection with the society, and is to be by way of conclusion to the entertainments and social 'gatherings held during the winter months. ' The entertainment, in which only Scottish scenes and characters will be represented, will open with a fancy march, and later on there will be- an exposition of national dancing, including reels and country dances. A number of scenes, dear to everyone from the land of the heath and the heather, will be represented by tableaux, amongst them the following:—"Burns Bidding Farewell to Highland Mary," "The Laird o' Cockpen and Mistress Jean," "The Cottar's Saturday Night," "Scottish Flowers—Blue Bells of Scotland and Scotch Thistles," and "Flora Maedonald bidding Farewell to Prince Charlie." Many other well-known characters in Scottish history will be impersonated by the "children, while

Miss Agnes Macdonald will be "The Lady of the Lake," and her sister, Miss Bessie, will be ' < Mary, Queen of Scots.", The pageant will be held in the society's rooms, and as it is the first of its kind to be attempted here, a good deal of interest is naturally being taken in the arrangements.•-Children of seven and upwards will take part.
