BOWLER FAREWELLED.
MR A. L. PARSONS ENTERTAINED. The members of the St. Alb.ans Bowling Club assembled in the pavilion last evening to say farewell to one of thennumber, Mr A. L. Parsons, who is leaving for Perth on the Bth inst. was occupied by the club's president (Mr D. E. Wood). A number of toasts were proposed, and and* recitations were contributed. The health of the guest was proposed by the chairman, who referred to the excellent personal qualities w r hich had made Mr Parsons "such a favourite among his clubmates. His amiable disposition and imperturbable good humour had won for him a very high place in the regard of the bowlers of Christehureh, and this bad .been seconded by his skill «at the good old game of bowls. The St. Albans members all regretted his departure, but j they alii wished him the fullest measure i of success and prosperity "in the city to | which he was going. Mr Wood then pre- l sented Mr Parsons with a set of military brushes and a silver cigarette-case. Mr Parsons replied in appropriate terms. His association with the St. Albans Club had been of the most pleasant character, and it was something of a wrench to part .with so many old friends. He heartily reciprocated the i good wishes which had been extended j to him. ■ j During the evening Mr Parsons pre-1 sented his framed photo, to the club, j which will take its place among those 6*f j other past-presidents.
