A very satisfactory report has been received from the organising secretary in the North Island. InvWayerley the farmers have very active, and a special committee Has been set up to promote the movement. Already several offers of sheep and cattle have been received. The Patea Committee is already organised, and is' giving, its' undivided attention to the fund. In Wanganui the fund is in the hands of a strong local committee, and there is every prospect of at least £3OOO being raised. The Art Union Committee is meeting with a great deal of success in its efforts to secure prizes, and already "over 100 very fine paintings and other works of art"»ave been offered. Those desirous of assisting the movement by donations of pictures or works of art are asked to communicate with the honorary secretary, Mr Maws'oFr Stewart. The prizes will be on exhibition in Mr Charles Clark's room, Hereford Street, within the next* day or two, and the tickets will also; be ready for disposal. Sunday next will be set apart by the Anglican and all, other churches to I make a collection in aid of the fund, j The Roman Catholic churches will take their collection on the last Sunday of : the month. ! In response to applications from some of the Omihi residents, Canon Pure has has agreed to deliver" his lecture on "Belgium" in the Omihi Schoolroom to-morrow evening at 7.30; WOMEN'S COMMITTEE.
